SUPER SATURDAY 2010!

Super Saturday is upon us again!  It will be on Saturday, October 16th starting at 9 AM in the Olympia Building.  I hope you sisters look forward to this fun filled craft day!  These crafts were chosen for many reasons, but one main one was how easy they all are to complete!  (even for those of you non-crafters!)  If you don't want to craft, just come and visit!  OR you can work on some Humanitarian quilts that we will have set up.  We will be having lunch at noon, so invite a friend, sister, or YW daughter to come as well!  If you would like to volunteer to bring a pot of soup, enough for 10 people, you can do so on the order form, or by contacting Allison Larson.   Orders are due preferably by Oct. 3rd (especially the projects including vinyl) and no later than Oct, 10th.
The projects being offered include:
Glass Etching $1.50/dish

Tired of labeling your glass bake ware?  Well, label it permanently by etching your name on the bottom of the pan.  You get to choose from two fonts, "Whimsy" (shown in the photos above) or "Block" in either all uppercase or lowercase.  $1.50 per pan that you would like to label.  And you can choose to have a different font for each pan if you wish. You are responsible for bringing your own glass pan(s).

Heart Wreath $7 or Without Initial $4
This cute Valentines inspired wreath is a simple way to dress up your front door.  There is no sewing involved so it is a fast and easy project.  We will be forming our own heart shapes with a wire and basically stringing the red burlap directly on to it.   You can choose whether or not to have the initial of your last name on the wreath, by indicating which you would like on the sign up sheet.

Photo Puzzle Blocks $3
This photo puzzle block is a fun activity for kids!  You can put family photos on it, photos of prophets, temples, or even words or drawings.  You bring 6 5"x7" photos to cut up and mod podge on to these 9 blocks.  Try to make sure the subject of your photo is not frame to frame, because we will be cutting it down to more of a 5 1/2" square.

Child Temple Block $5
A cute reminder for you child's room.  Kit comes with the 5 1/2" square block, photo of the Columbia River Washington Temple, and a vinyl overlay with the words "I'm going there someday".  You are responsible for bringing two coordinating sheets of scrapbook paper, so that you can decide on the color scheme that your child will like.

Monster Journal $2.50
A fun journal for anyone!  You get to create your monsters face and choose the fur.  (Fur colors may vary depending on what I will be able to find in stores.)  We simply will be hot gluing our fabric onto a composition notebook and hot gluing on the face as well.  Get creative!

Hair Clip Holder $4
A very cute way to display and organize hair clips!  Choose either a black or silver frame.  You are responsible for bringing background fabric and coordinating ribbon so that you can choose the colors and style of fabric and ribbon that best suits you!

Flower Hair Clips 4 for $1
Get creative and make these super easy hair clips!  Many different flower styles and sizes!  Mix and match and have fun!

Framed Felt Monogram $1
You get to choose (and are responsible for bringing) your own background fabric and your own frame for this simple project so that you can match it to your style and/or existing home decor.  We will be cutting gluing, and just some simple hand stitching and embroidery if desired.  The felt and embroidery floss will be provided.

Last Name Board $15
A beautiful and simple project to complete!  Also great as a gift!  You can choose to have the overlay say "Families Are Forever" (as shown above in picture) or you can have "Est. 19__" as the overlay.  Indicate which you would like on your order form.

Internet Savvy! ARRGH!

We had a fun night last night learning more about how to protect our families from the inappropriate and 'murky waters' of the internet! Ted Chan showed us how to use K9 Web Protection. A FREE internet filtering program that comes highly recommended! What is better than free and easy to use??! Here is the website where you can download this awesome program and learn more about it! www.k9webprotection.com

Lynne Stites and Charlene Ottley taught us more about navigating the church website at lds.org. At this website you can go to the "Stake and Ward Websites" section and sign in (you will need your membership number to sign in for the first time) to view things such as lesson schedules, stake directory, stake and ward calendars, etc. Add your email to your account and get updates on events that are happening in the ward and stake. Other things you can do from this website include downloading hymns, primary songs, pictures, conference talks, scriptures, magazine articles, etc. You name it!! There are numerous resources on this amazing website to help us with our everyday efforts to live the gospel. Did you know that there are also Family Home Evening lessons and ideas? Awesome! The church has done a really good job making this website helpful for us families!

Lastly, we learned more about the new Family Search website found here: FamilySearch.org This is a great website that the Church has made to help us further our genealogy work! You can learn more about doing Family History with free online classes. Sign up to start doing Family Search Indexing from your home! There are a lot of wonderful things to help us with our Family History!

For those of you who weren't able to come last night, you missed out on our Tasting Table DEBUT!! We had some truly scrumptious refreshments!! Including, Oatmeal Fudge Cookie Bars from Lynne Stites, Cheese Ball from Melanie Westover, Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball from Allison Larson(me), German Pancakes from Michelle Smith, and Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies from Delynn Craigo and Shaylene Espericueta! You really missed out if you weren't there...but we will still have these fabulous recipes available if you are interested!!

A special thanks to Brother Chan, Sister Harris, Sister Ottley, and Sister Stites for being our guest speakers! And thanks to those who shared their recipes for our Tasting Table Debut!
